About Cattaraugus County Criminal History

Cattaraugus County records are divided among the sheriff in Little Valley, criminal courts across the county, New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, state corrections, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry/Public Subdirectory. This private resource organizes those official paths so readers can identify the right portal, phone line, or records counter without treating unlike records as one database.

Why We Built This Site

New York divides access by record type and custodian. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff holds its incident reports and local jail data, while the court that heard a case controls its docket and disposition. DCJS maintains the official fingerprint-linked state history but does not offer a public name check. The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision maintains state custody records, and DCJS also manages the public registry. We collect researched request steps, official links, fees, contacts, and access limits so that those boundaries remain clear.

What You Will Find Here

  • Record paths: how Cattaraugus County court files, arrest records, jail data, and registry profiles differ
  • Official self-review: how fingerprint-based DCJS Criminal History Record Review works for a person's own New York history
  • Local contacts: where to reach the sheriff, County Court, Olean and Salamanca channels, and statewide custodians
  • Record sealing: where New York sealing rules and court filing routes apply to a person's own record

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site with no affiliation to a New York court, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff, any police department, or a state agency. Those limits matter:

  • We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
  • We cannot file record-sealing motions, FOIL requests, or other paperwork for you
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now

An official copy must come from its custodian, such as the sheriff, originating court, DCJS, or another agency that maintains the record.

Search Partners

Third-party providers power search boxes shown on some pages. They operate independently, set their own prices, and control their results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports site access. We do not determine a partner's charges, coverage, matching methods, or data practices.
